1.0   Browser Click to Dial

Browser click to dial is supported by Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera. Internet Explorer and Edge are not supported.

2.0   Installing in Chrome & Opera

Installation on Chrome and Opera are quite similar due to the same underlying browser engine. The following screenshots are for Chrome but they are much the same with Opera but with subtle differences in appearance.

2.1    Open the Dialling Settings

Right click the Cloud Desk Pro icon in the tray, go to Configuration > Dialling

On the dialling page open the “Dialling handlers” sub menu

This brings up the links to install the browser extensions for your relevant browser. Click the “Download” button for Chrome or Opera.

3.2    Installing the Extension

Click “Add to Firefox” and confirm the pop up to install the extension to your browser.

3.2.1    First Use (Firefox Only)

When you first click a telephone number link it will prompt the user to launch an application:

There should most likely only be “PhoneHelper” available. Make sure it is selected, check the box to remember to use this choice, and click “Open Link”

The extension is now ready to use.

4.0  Using Click to Dial

On web pages with numbers in the correct format, the extension will parse the information and make the link clickable. Below is show in Chrome, but functionality is the same between browsers.

Simply click the number you want to dial, and it will start the call using CloudDeskPro.

n.b. Unfortunately not all numbers will be in the correct format or not be parsed correctly, due to the way different websites are written. A work around is to have clipboard dialling enabled in the dialling settings, and to select the number, right-click and copy.

4.1    First Use

When you first click a link, it will prompt you how it wants to handle the link.

Select “PhoneHelper” and make sure the “Always use this app” box is checked. This should only be needed on first use.

4.2    Disabling the Links

If you would like to copy phone numbers to the clipboard or any other reason, you can disable the links by clicking the icon next to the address bar.

Click again to re-enable clickable links.

4.3    Advanced – Changing Link Protocol

If you are using a web-based CRM or similar, or if a webpage has been written with dialable links already, it may be using a link protocol other than the default tel://<number>

To fix this, right click the extension button and go to options.

Check the “Enable Protocol Replacement” box and check the boxes below it.

This will convert the protocol that is being used to one that the extension will be able to parse and hand over to CloudDesk Pro.
